Landscape Architecture Alumni Advisory Committee
The UW-Madison Landscape Architecture Alumni Advisory Committee was formed as an ad hoc committee in October 1996 in response to the need for assisting the Department of Landscape Architecture with their pending accreditation review. As a result of wide support from local professionals and alumni, the department was able to gain full accreditation of the undergraduate landscape architecture program. With this successful review, the department sought continuation of a committee that would assist the faculty and students in landscape architecture with on-going efforts. The accreditation review committee made specific recommendations related to the formation of such a group and helped define the long range goals for the proposed alumni advisory committee.
In May 1997, the Landscape Architecture Alumni Advisory Committee received full support from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dean and the Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture. By then the committee had grown from 6 active participants to a group of 12 individuals who then began formally meeting on a quarterly basis. A committee chair was selected, a mission statement drafted and major goals were defined.

Four subcommittees were organized around the major goals to provide direction to the committee. They are:

Recent activities of the LAAAC include:
- sponsored and helped organize the annual "Last Free Lunch" for students and professionals
- received an ASLA Chapter Initiatives Program grant of $2,000 to establish a mentoring program in the LA Department
- met with the College of Ag & Life Sciences Dean to promote the Department and gain support from University Administration
- provided leadership and guidance to students in organizing the LABash 2000 event
